Something in the mare’s steady attention let Lorenzo stop holding it all for a while. He breathed, then softened, and the day carried the weight without asking him to explain it.

Federico, 57

Successful, responsible, and quietly caged.

On paper Federico had won at everything, and inside, a flatness and a longing he couldn’t name. He came half-expecting nothing, mostly to prove to himself that he had tried.

The horse asked for none of his achievements, only his presence. In that unhurried honesty, the longing had an answer: not more success, just the simple, forgotten feeling of being free.
