TERMS & CONDITIONS

Alterreno General Conditions

By enrolling in one of the Alterreno Horse Boarding Memberships (Classic™, Heritage™, Custom™ or Old Soul™), the Owner accepts and agrees to the following Terms and Conditions.

1. Feeding and Nutritional Management

1.1 Alterreno retains full and exclusive authority to establish, monitor and adjust each horse’s feeding programme based on veterinary, osteopathic and nutritional assessments, together with daily observation.

1.2 Any request made by the Owner may be considered only where it is compatible with the horse’s health and welfare and is approved by Alterreno.

2. Medication and Supplement Administration

2.1 The administration of medications, supplements and treatments shall be carried out exclusively by Alterreno personnel in accordance with veterinary prescriptions or professional recommendations.

2.2 By entering into this Agreement, the Owner authorises Alterreno to administer any prescribed medication or treatment without requiring separate approval on each occasion.

3. Veterinary and Extraordinary Interventions

3.1 Alterreno shall coordinate all veterinary, farrier, osteopathic, dental, physiotherapy or other professional interventions required during the horse’s stay.

3.2 The Advanced Provisioning Allowance (“A.P.A.”) shall be used to pay for such services without requiring prior approval from the Owner unless the available balance is insufficient.

3.3 Where the A.P.A. requires replenishment, the Owner shall restore it to the required amount within 4 (four) working days of written notification.

3.4 Alterreno shall keep the Owner reasonably informed of any significant medical event and the actions taken.

4. Communication and Owner Interaction

4.1 Alterreno shall provide updates regarding the horse’s health, training and wellbeing according to the selected Membership.

4.2 Communication shall take place through the designated email address or other official communication channel used by Alterreno.

5. Operational Trust

5.1 Alterreno’s boarding programme is based upon professional judgement and operational autonomy.

5.2 By placing a horse at Alterreno, the Owner entrusts the daily management of the horse to Alterreno’s professional team.

5.3 Persistent operational interference, abusive conduct or behaviour that prevents Alterreno from properly managing the horse may result in immediate termination of this Agreement.

5.4 In such circumstances, all Boarding Fees already paid shall remain non-refundable.

6. Payment Terms
6.1 Reservation Deposit

6.1.1 Upon confirmation of the Agreement, the Owner shall pay a non-refundable reservation deposit equal to 30% (thirty per cent) of the Boarding Fees relating to the agreed minimum term.

6.1.2 The full amount of the applicable A.P.A. shall be paid together with the reservation deposit.

6.1.3 The reservation shall become binding only upon receipt of both payments.

6.2 Monthly Boarding Fees

6.2.1 The remaining 70% (seventy per cent) of the Boarding Fees shall be paid in equal monthly instalments in advance throughout the agreed boarding period.

6.2.2 The reservation deposit shall be deducted from the total Boarding Fees before calculating the monthly instalments.

6.2.3 Monthly instalments shall be due on the first day of each calendar month unless otherwise agreed in writing.

6.3 Additional Services
6.3.1 Riding lessons, training programmes and any service not expressly included in the selected Horse Boarding Membership, as described at: http://alterrenoclub.com/membership/horse-boarding-memberships/ shall be charged separately at Alterreno’s rates in force at the time the service is provided.

6.4 Advanced Provisioning Allowance (A.P.A.)

6.4.1 A refundable Advanced Provisioning Allowance (“A.P.A.”) is required for every horse.

6.4.2 The amount of the A.P.A. depends on the selected Membership.

6.4.3 The A.P.A. may be used by Alterreno to pay expenses incurred on behalf of the Owner, including veterinary care, medications, supplements, farrier services, transport and any other authorised costs relating to the horse.

6.4.4 All authorised expenses shall be deducted from the A.P.A.

6.4.5 Any unused balance shall be refunded within 30 (thirty) days after termination of the Agreement.

6.5 A.P.A. Replenishment

6.5.1 Whenever the A.P.A. balance falls below 25% (twenty-five per cent) of its original value, Alterreno may request that it be replenished.

6.5.2 The Owner shall restore the A.P.A. to its original amount within 4 (four) working days of written notification.

6.6 Non-Refundable Payments
6.6.1 Except for any unused balance of the A.P.A., all Boarding Fees and reservation deposits are non-refundable.

6.7 Minimum Term and Early Termination

6.7.1 The minimum duration of this Agreement is 6 (six) consecutive months.

6.7.2 The Owner may terminate the Agreement before expiry of the minimum term by giving written notice.

6.7.3 In the event of early termination, the Owner shall pay an early termination fee equal to 1 (one) month’s Boarding Fee, in addition to any outstanding amounts due up to the horse’s departure date.

6.8 Late Payments

6.8.1 All payments shall be made by their due dates.

6.8.2 Any amount remaining unpaid for more than 7 (seven) days shall be deemed overdue.

6.8.3 Alterreno reserves the right to suspend non-essential services or terminate this Agreement after written notice if overdue amounts remain unpaid.

7. Veterinary, Farrier and External Professional Costs

7.1 Unless expressly included in the selected Membership, all veterinary, farrier, dental, osteopathic, physiotherapy, laboratory, transport and other external professional costs shall be borne exclusively by the Owner.

7.2 Alterreno may settle such costs on the Owner’s behalf and deduct the corresponding amounts from the A.P.A.

7.3 Where the A.P.A. is insufficient, the Owner shall reimburse the outstanding balance within 4 (four) working days of written notification.

8. Emergency Authority

8.1 Where immediate intervention is reasonably required for the horse’s welfare and the Owner cannot be contacted within a reasonable time, Alterreno is authorised to obtain any veterinary or professional treatment considered necessary.

8.2 The Owner accepts responsibility for all costs arising from such intervention.

9. Liability

9.1 Alterreno shall exercise reasonable skill and care in the management and supervision of every horse.

9.2 Horses are living animals and their behaviour cannot be guaranteed.

9.3 Except in cases of wilful misconduct or gross negligence, Alterreno shall not be liable for illness, injury, escape, theft, death or any consequential loss suffered by the Owner.

9.4 Alterreno shall not be liable for damage to tack, rugs, equipment, trailers, vehicles or other personal property unless directly caused by its wilful misconduct or gross negligence.

10. Admission Requirements

10.1 Every horse admitted to Alterreno shall comply with all applicable legal requirements and Alterreno’s biosecurity procedures.

10.2 Before arrival, the Owner shall provide:

-proof of current vaccinations;

-any health documentation required by law;

-details of current medications or ongoing treatments;

-any behavioural information relevant to the safe management of the horse.

10.3 Alterreno reserves the right to refuse admission or require temporary isolation where necessary to protect the health and welfare of other horses.

11. Insurance

11.1 The Owner remains responsible for maintaining any insurance considered appropriate, including mortality insurance and third-party liability insurance.

11.2 Alterreno does not insure horses against illness, injury, accident, theft or death unless expressly agreed in writing.

12. Right to Refuse or Terminate

12.1 Alterreno reserves the right to refuse admission or terminate this Agreement with immediate effect where:

a) the horse presents a contagious disease;

b) the horse’s behaviour creates an unreasonable risk to people or other horses;

c) the Owner repeatedly breaches these Terms and Conditions;

d) continued boarding would compromise animal welfare or the safe operation of the facility.

12.2 Any outstanding amounts shall remain immediately due and payable.

13. Force Majeure

13.1 Alterreno shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform its obligations where such delay or failure results from events beyond its reasonable control, including epidemics, governmental restrictions, natural disasters, floods, fires, war, strikes or interruptions of utilities.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

14.1 These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Italy.

14.2 Any dispute arising out of or in connection with this Agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Court of Pisa.

By enrolling in any Alterreno Academy activity, including BHS courses and regular lessons or courses, the rider (and, where applicable, the rider’s parent or legal guardian) agrees to the following terms.

15. Definitions
15.1 Academy Activities means all lessons, courses, clinics, training sessions, BHS courses, exams preparation and any riding or horsemanship activity organised by Alterreno.
15.2 Rider means the participant in the Academy Activities.
15.3 Alterreno means ASSOCIAZIONE SPORTIVA DILETTANTISTICA AL TERRENO and its staff, instructors and authorised personnel.

16. Membership and Eligibility Requirements (Safety)
16.1 ASD ALTERRENO Membership: Before taking part in any Academy Activities the Rider must be a current member (socio) of ASD ALTERRENO.
16.2 Sports Affiliation: The Rider must hold a valid FISE affiliation in Italy or an equivalent affiliation recognised by Alterreno. Evidence may be requested at any time.
16.3 Insurance:
a) If the Rider uses their own horse the horse must be covered by adequate insurance, including third-party liability.
b) The Rider must ensure their own personal accident and liability cover is valid as required by their affiliation.
16.4 Alterreno may refuse participation where the above requirements are not met or cannot be verified.

17. Rider Responsibility and Conduct
17.1 The Rider must follow all safety instructions given by instructors and staff at all times.
17.2 Alterreno may suspend or exclude a Rider from any activity for safety reasons or inappropriate behaviour. In such cases no refund is due.

18. Horse Use and Rider Equipment
18.1 The Rider is responsible for ensuring any horse they ride is fit for the intended activity and is managed safely.
18.2 Approved riding equipment is mandatory as directed by Alterreno. Alterreno may require protective equipment for specific activities.

19. BHS Courses (Specific Terms)
19.1 BHS courses are delivered in accordance with the intended syllabus and training plan communicated by Alterreno.
19.2 Participation in any BHS assessment or exam may be subject to meeting prerequisites and instructor approval.
19.3 Any third-party fees (for example external exam or registration fees) are the Rider’s responsibility unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.
19.4 If the minimum enrolment is not met BHS courses will be rescheduled. Deposits will be held and applied to the next available course.

20. Regular Courses and Lessons (Specific Terms)
20.1 Regular lessons and courses are scheduled by Alterreno and may be subject to change due to instructor availability, weather, facility needs, horse welfare, safety considerations or operational requirements.
20.2 Where Alterreno reschedules an activity the Rider will be offered an alternative date or a credit at Alterreno’s discretion.

21. Booking and Payment Terms
21.1 Advance Payment Required: All lessons and courses must be paid in advance to confirm the booking.
21.2 Non-Refundable Payments: All payments for courses and lessons are non-refundable, including in the event of cancellation or non-attendance by the Rider.
21.3 Alterreno may require full payment for a course at the time of booking.
21.4 Where a Rider is removed or excluded for safety or conduct reasons no refund is due.

22. Health and Medical
22.1 The Rider confirms they are medically fit to participate.
22.2 In an emergency the Rider authorises Alterreno to arrange first aid and appropriate medical assistance.

23. Liability
23.1 Horse riding is a risk sport. The Rider participates at their own risk.
23.2 To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law Alterreno is not liable for loss, injury or damage arising from participation except where caused by gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

24. Photographs and Media
24.1 Alterreno may take photographs or video during activities for documentation and marketing purposes unless the Rider opts out in writing before the activity.

25. Cancellation Refunds and Abandonment
25.1 The assessment fee is non-refundable in all circumstances.
25.2 If a participant abandons the course after booking no refund of the deposit or any later payment will be issued.
25.3 Alterreno may cancel or postpone a course. Participants will then receive either a full refund or credit towards a future course at Alterreno’s discretion.

26. Nature of the experience (no riding)
These experiences take place near horses and in their environment and are designed for transformative and relational activities. No riding is included and participants will not mount any horse at any time. Activities may include observation, mindful interaction and groundwork from the ground subject to safety and suitability.

27. Eligibility and compulsory association with ASD ALTERRENO
To participate clients must be registered/associated with ASD ALTERRENO. For certification and compliance purposes clients must provide the documents required for association before the experience (e.g. valid ID and any additional documentation requested).
If documents are not provided in time ASD ALTERRENO may refuse participation and the booking will be treated as a late cancellation (see section 31).

28. Health, conduct and safety
Participants must follow all staff instructions and safety rules at all times. ASD ALTERRENO reserves the right to stop or end the experience without refund if a participant’s behaviour creates a safety risk to people or horses.

29. Booking and payment
Some experiences may require prepayment or a deposit to secure the booking. The applicable amount and due date will be communicated at the time of booking.

30. Use of prepaid payments as credit
If a client is unable to attend on the booked date any prepaid payments (including the experience price if paid in advance) may be held as credit and used towards a rescheduled date or another eligible experience subject to availability. Credit is non-transferable unless ASD ALTERRENO agrees otherwise in writing.

31. Cancellation policy
• Free cancellation is available up to 90 days before the scheduled experience date. Any payments made will be refunded or, if preferred, converted into credit.
• For cancellations made less than 90 days before the experience all deposits are forfeited and are not refundable.

32. Rescheduling by ASD ALTERRENO
ASD ALTERRENO may reschedule the experience due to safety, welfare or operational reasons (including weather, horse welfare and staffing). In such cases clients may choose a new date or convert the amount paid into credit.

33. Membership requirement for activities at the equestrian centre
33.1. For Alterreno, all individuals who carry out any activity within the equestrian centre must be registered as Alterreno Ordinary Members (non-voting). Accordingly, they are required both to provide the personal details needed for membership registration and to complete the membership process.
33.2. If any individual covered by the requirement above is a minor, the personal details of the responsible parent or legal guardian must also be collected.
33.3. Please note that for clients taking part in Alterreno’s transformative experiences the cost of this membership is included in the price of the experience.

34. Liability and assumption of risk
Interaction with animals and being around horses involves inherent risks (including slips, falls, sudden movement and unpredictable behaviour). Participants acknowledge these risks and agree to take reasonable care and follow instructions.

35. Privacy and data
Personal data and documents provided for association and certification will be processed for administrative and compliance purposes in line with applicable privacy rules.

36. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
36.1 These Terms and Conditions are governed by Italian law.
36.2 Any dispute arising out of or linked to these Terms and Conditions shall fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Italian courts competent for the location of Alterreno’s registered office unless mandatory consumer protection rules state otherwise.
