Giulia Mancini (Florence, 1998), raised in Brescia, developed a connection with horses from early childhood. She began riding at the age of six, quickly cultivating a strong sense of responsibility for their care and wellbeing. In 2012, while seeking a more conscious approach to help her first horse, Garand, recover from injury, she encountered Angelika Schneider and the Alterreno Equestrian Centre. This meeting proved pivotal in her development. Through consistent work rooted in understanding, observation and communication, the partnership grew to reach Parelli Level 3+. Over these formative years, Giulia shaped her personal philosophy, one centred on relationship and awareness.
Over time, Giulia developed a strong interest in show jumping. Curious and determined to find a balance between competitive sport and horsemanship, she embarked on an athletic path that led her to work with Luca Moneta, one of the first riders in Italy to integrate these two worlds. She began competing in both national and international events, later continuing her training at the prestigious stables of Giulia Martinengo Marquet and Stefano Cesaretto, where she refined her technical and professional skills.
Despite her progress and success in the sport, this period also marked a phase of deep personal difficulty. The pressures of the competitive environment and an increasingly performance-driven view of riding gradually led her to lose confidence in the equestrian world, although her love for horses remained intact. This realisation prompted her to pause and reflect on her path.
She brought her horses back to Alterreno, which over time had become a human and professional anchor point. In 2022, Angelika Schneider offered her a transformative experience: a horseback journey from Tuscany to Austria. Travelling day after day alongside the horses, Giulia reconnected profoundly with the essence of horsemanship. That experience solidified her bond with Alterreno and marked the beginning of a new professional chapter.
Since 2023, Giulia has served as Alterreno’s First Rider, Instructor and Junior Project Manager. Her work includes teaching riders of various levels, starting and training young horses through natural approaches, managing training and daily horse care, organising events and educational programmes and leading coaching sessions and personal growth journeys assisted by horses.
Alongside her equestrian path, Giulia has also pursued education in emotional and relational dynamics. She holds a degree in Psychological Science and Techniques and has specialised in emotional and behavioural coaching, integrating these skills into her work with both people and horses.
She deepened her coaching studies at I&G Management, training with Diego Ingrassia, focusing on communication, emotional awareness, experiential learning and personal development. She is currently completing certification with the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
Giulia continues her equestrian development through daily training with Angelika Schneider and by studying the work of renowned figures in classical riding and horsemanship, including Anja Beran, Vera Munderloh, Juan Diego Trevijano, and Linda Parelli.
Today at Alterreno, Giulia brings together her work in the saddle as First Rider, her role as an equestrian instructor, her leadership in horse-assisted coaching, and her commitment to educational project development. She accompanies riders and participants through technical, personal and experiential learning journeys, where horses become partners in transformation.

THE PHILOSOPHY
Giulia views a horse’s behaviour as a form of communication. Resistance is not opposition but a signal to be understood. Horses express themselves through their actions and it is the rider’s responsibility to observe, listen and interpret what unfolds in the relationship. Drawing on her background in psychology and behavioural coaching, her approach blends technical work with emotional awareness, addressing not only physical symptoms but also relational and emotional causes, laying the foundation for partnerships built on trust and mutual understanding.
Every action a horse takes contains information about its physical and emotional state.
Observation, emotional regulation and clarity in communication are essential tools when working with horses.
Lasting results are built on consistency, empathy and trust, not on control.
A rider’s first responsibility is to understand the horse before asking for a response.
